Yeoido Fire Festival - Oct 4

The Yeoido Fire Festival was a last-minute venture. My friend Yonghwa told me about a giant fireworks show on the east part of Seoul, and we agreed it would be great and we'd have a good time. We planned on meeting there and then check out the show. I got there before dark, and there were already a large number of people. I decided to just find a place and stick to it, and wait for Yonghwa.

Yonghwa got there after dusk, and it was really difficult to find the landmarks I told her. For some reason, cellphone reception was bad, and my battery died really easily, and hers did too. Maybe it was because there were so many other people with cellphones there, who knows? I wasn't able to talk much on the phone, and Yonghwa and I ended up missing each other.

The show started, and I stood around ooo-ing and ahhh-ing and aiming my camera. I took a number of pictures, some of which are on my blog here. In the first video you can see two fireworks with happy faces at the beginning. The second video is just way cooler fireworks.

There were absolutely crazy amounts of people there! There was probably over half a million people on the waterfront of this tiny park area. The subway stop there was closed off and the whole area was choked with people. It was insane. I didn't think that fireworks were that great to stick around for the finale when everyone would be leaving, but I did stay for about 20 minutes of it.
