Baby plants!

These are the closest things I have to pets right now, my little Chinese wolfberry seedlings. I growed them from seed!

Everything is cute when it's tiny.

They are only little grasslings at this point, but it's nice to have something to tend in my otherwise dead apartment. I like the place sure, but it's a little dark most of the time. I'm worried that the little ones don't get enough sun, so I put them on my window ledge when I go to work.

Some are already showing signs of not enough sun, but there's a bundle that's growing strongly that I have hopes for.

When's the last time I've actually grown something from seed anyway? I was a little nervous that the seeds weren't going to grow. They were so small and flat, how could anything living come from them?

I like the idea of watching something change.

At my new work, I teach kindergarten students mostly. I enjoy it 9 times out of 10 because little ones can do the darnedest things, and they change so fast. One student who is like 6 Korean age, so about 4-5 English age, was such a fuss for awhile. But, he's been at the school about three months now, and he's learned quite a lot, not to mention how to behave. He came up to me yesterday, hugged my legs, and said, "Ju wa yo," which means he likes me. Aww!

Baby plants, baby people, it's all the same. Growth.

You laugh at my gushing, but when your neighbourhood lacks grass and gardens, you take it where you can.
